The Durango Double is pleased to announce that the charitable beneficiary will be the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado. The Durango Double's charitable goal is to raise $26,000 through sponsorship of the water stations that will be located along both the Trail Run and Road Run courses.

About The Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado

The Community Foundation is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and grow endowed funds to serve areas of need in Southwest Colorado through organized philanthropy.

Brad Cochennet, Community Foundation Board Member, often uses the analogy of a marathon to explain the Community Foundation. Brad explains, "The foundation's goal is to help grow all endowed funds serving Southwest Colorado by twenty million dollars by the year 2020. Like a marathon, this is a long-term goal and one that will be reached through hard work and perseverance - you can't sprint a marathon and you don't build endowments overnight."

Matt Kelly, Event Director and founder of the Durango Double, specifically chose the Community Foundation because of their work with endowed funds. "Helping to fund an endowment is an opportunity to build a lasting community asset. This fund will provide long-term support for many local non-profits," said Matt.
